Job Summary
The Cyber Security Specialist will provide professional services to enhance Client’s cybersecurity posture. The specialist will support the implementation and monitoring of advanced cybersecurity controls across both on-premises and cloud environments. This includes ensuring compliance with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and CSA standards, while proactively identifying and mitigating cybersecurity risks.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and manage enterprise security tools (Azure, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel).
Conduct security incident investigations, reporting, and post-mortem analysis.
Develop vulnerability assessment reports and track remediation using Tenable One.
Maintain updated cybersecurity documentation and system security plans.
Monitor and report on security metrics including Azure Secure Score.
Ensure controls and practices align with NIST CSF, ISO/IEC 27001/27002, and CSA standards.
Participate in regulatory audits and internal reviews.
Collaborate with various teams and mentor staff in security best practices.
Deliverables
Incident Reports & Analysis: Detailed reports with lessons learned.
Vulnerability Assessment Reports: Tenable One scan results and remediation status.
Security Metrics: Dashboards, trends, and improvements tracking.
Compliance Documentation: Evidence of alignment with relevant frameworks.
Security Artifacts: Updated policies, SOPs, network diagrams, and system security plans.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
Education:University degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in IT security or cybersecurity operations.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Defender suite, Sentinel SIEM.
Proficiency in PowerShell, JSON, KQL, Logic Apps.
Strong analytical skills for threat detection and forensics.
Knowledge of incident response and cybersecurity methodologies.
Clearance: Must be eligible for Government of Canada Level II (Secret) Security Clearance.
Desired Education & Certifications
One or more of the following:
CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
CISM – Certified Information Security Manager
GIAC (SANS Institute) certifications
Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
Desired Experience
Prior work in critical infrastructure or nuclear/energy utilities environments.
Familiarity with SCADA/ICS cybersecurity concerns.
Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Team-oriented with mentoring and knowledge-sharing skills.
Seniority Level
Senior – typically 6+ years of relevant experience with leadership in cyber defense and advanced toolsets.
